Vipers SC throw chance to go top in draw with Express FC

Vipers SC missed a huge opportunity to head top of the Uganda Premier League after being held 0-0 by Express FC at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Tuesday.

The Venoms headed into the encounter fully aware victory would put them level on top with KCCA FC on 26 points, yet the former hold a superior goal difference.

KCCA FC had been held as well to a one-all stalemate by BUL FC earlier on Tuesday at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

Vipers were hard-done by a number of injuries as they had to make do without stars including Yunus Sentamu, Karim Watambala, Murushid Juuko, Disan Ggaliwango, Abdu Lumala, Livingstone Mulondo among others.

On Tuesday though against the Red Eagles, it was an evenly contested affair, with the Venoms the better team in the first half, as the hosts took the second.

Express, who came into this one on the back of four successive defeats, ended that run and will look to building onto that for the better.

The seven-time champions, who are now ninth with 15 points, will now visit Maroons FC on Friday in their next encounter.

Meanwhile, a day later Vipers will play host to BUL at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende in a top four clash.
