The Wakiso Zone qualifiers for the USSSA Ball Games II got underway on Wednesday, June 17, in Mwererwe, with schools competing in various disciplines, including the U-17 boys’ football tournament.
Kyadondo Secondary School made a strong start to the competition, winning both of their opening matches. They first defeated Wampeewo Ntakke 2-0, thanks to goals from Gerald Ochen and Mawanda Kizza.
The Matugga-Kiryagonja-based side, coached by Ayub Kiiza, maintained their perfect start with another 2-0 victory over St Michael International. Mawanda Kizza was again on the scoresheet, while Arsene Odinga added the second goal to seal the win.

Elsewhere, Buddo Secondary School produced the biggest result of the day, thrashing City Land 8-0. Ambrose Oboyi led the charge with four goals, while Sserubiri Carrick Richard, Rahim Kato, Eric Mawanda and captain Shafic Kitimbo also found the back of the net in the dominant display.
The qualifiers will continue on Thursday, June 18, before climaxing on Friday, June 19. The best-performing schools will earn the right to represent Wakiso Zone at the national championship scheduled to be held at Sacred Heart School in Gulu.
