Kenneth Waiswa and Steven Wabwose both scored half centuries as Challengers eased past Africa Cricket Club (ACC) by 203 runs in the National Men’s 50 Over League.
Waiswa who moved from defending champions Aziz Damani to Challengers this year scored 51 while Wabwose notched 62 not out.
Ronald Lutaya, an opening batter for the Cricket Cranes did some donkey work for his ACC side.
The 20-year-old picked up 4 wickets for his side including Waiswa, but Challengers’ batting lineup was too good for Lutaya and co to stop.
Suleiman Sharif (38), Perry Wazombe (27), Aneef Sha Mohammed (20), Siraje Nsubuga (21), and Jovid Mohammed all scored in double digits as Challengers set 255/8.
The chase was too stiff for ACC to handle and they were bundled out in the 18th Over with only 52/10 on board.
Both Waiswa and Nsubuga each picked 3 wickets while Ivan Baidu and Lawrence Sempijja each got two.
Challengers were hoping to go top of the table with that victory, but they remain second due to an inferior net run rate.
In the other league game that was played, Nyakasura edged Avengers by 3 wickets. Isaac Sanyu Ategeka (71), Pascal Murungi (61) both notched half centuries in this one as Nyakasura completed the chase in the 41st Over.
Ivan Thawithemwira and Amos Ahura, Nyakasura openers gave their team a good start. The former scored 46 while the latter got 27.
Joshi Yashashvi plucked 5 wickets but his fifer wasn’t enough to stop the students. Yashashvi was also handy with the bat as he turned out with 54.
Abishek Mashru got 60, but Avengers top run getter Christopher Kidega was only able to put 10 on board.
The win elevates Nyakasura to the third position in the league.
