Upon being unveiled as Express FC Head Coach on a permanent basis on Friday, James Odoch swore to build a team that will get the club back to the heights it is historically known for.

The former Red Eagles’ midfielder finished the preceding 2021/22 campaign in the role on interim, after the sacking of Wasswa Bbosa, but has now penned a one-year full-time contract.

“My major focus is going to be in building a team of young players who will play for the Red Eagles for a long time, at least three years with hunger, ambition, commitment and passion to achieve big things,” he said to the club media.

The Mukwano Gwabangi won the Uganda Premier League and the CECAFA Kagame Cup in the 2020/21 season, and the tactician will try to replicate that campaign’s brilliance.

“I was a player with Express FC and also served as assistant manager in the 2020/2021 season when we won the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and CECAFA Kagame Cup championship. I know what Express is and how it should play.”

Odoch is expected to announce his technical team in the coming days, before the rebuilding process at Wankulukuku takes full gear.
