Forward Rogers Mato Joins Turkish Club Şanlıurfa Spor Kulübü

Uganda Cranes forward Rogers Mato was unveiled at Turkish second division club Şanlıurfa Spor Kulübü.

On Thursday 03rd August 2023, Mato trained with Şanlıurfa Spor Kulübü before he was officially unveiled.

Mato, who was arguably KCCA FC’s best player last season, has moved to his first club outside Uganda.

Mato joined KCCA FC at the start of the 2021/22 season from Proline FC.

Rogers Mato

He famously scored the all important goal as Uganda Cranes beat Tanzania during a Group F encounter of the AFCON 2023 qualifying game in Dar E Salaam.

Nicknamed ‘Dark Horse’ among his peers, Mato is known for his speed, ability to dribble past defenders, and score goals.

Mato is a product of the FUFA Juniors League, where he played for Lweza FC Junior Team, Maroons FC Junior Team, and Proline FC Junior Team.

His new football team currently plays in the TFF Second division and host their home games at Şanlıurfa GAP Stadium.

Mato’s move to Turkey is a significant step in his career. His move is expected to boost his profile and give him the opportunity to play at a higher level.
