Mark Omara was fresh and composed after Nemostars booked their place in the Round of 16, win clean, stay ready, and trust the team.
Moments after a straight sets win over Cameroon’s Litto Team Volleyball Club at Petit Stade, Omara pointed to Nemostars’ biggest strength in the group stage, finishing matches without complications.
“It’s very important to win games 3-0,” he said. “That is our strength as a team.”
The result sealed four wins in five games for the Ugandan side, a return Omara rated at about 80 percent in an interview with Kawowo Sports. The only blemish was a loss to APR, but he believes the team responded well.
“We lost to APR, but we came back and won the next games,” he said.
Against Litto, Nemostars showed both control and patience. They led early in the first set, absorbed pressure when Litto fought back, and still closed it 25-21.
The second set was more straightforward at 25-16, before they recovered from a slow start in the third to complete the sweep, 25-21.
For Omara, his role goes beyond what happens on the scoreboard at times.
“I’m always there to support the team,” he said. “I make sure I’m ready, especially when the energy levels go down.”
Energy was one of the few challenges during the group stage, particularly in the game against APR, which was played later than scheduled.
“We had some challenges with energy levels,” he admitted.
Now, attention turns to the Round of 16 clash against Kenya’s KPA.
