Uganda Cup R16 | Tuesday 18th March, 2025 | 3 PM
- KCCA FC Vs Rwenzori Lions FC – Lugogo
- Lugazi FC Vs SC Villa – Lugazi, Najjembe
- BUL FC Vs Total FC – FTC, Njeru
KCCA FC is set to host Rwenzori Lions FC in the Round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides.
The Lugogo side progressed to this stage after defeating Kuluva Rainbow FC 2-1 in the Round of 32, while Rwenzori Lions FC advanced by eliminating Big League table Leaders Buhimba United on penalties.

This fixture marks a historic moment for KCCA FC, as it will be their first-ever Uganda Cup match under floodlights in Lugogo and their first home game in the competition since February 2022.
The 13-time league champions are currently in good form, having secured back-to-back league wins and aiming for a third consecutive victory across all competitions, something they haven’t achieved since October 2024.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Head Coach Abdallah Mubiru expressed confidence in his squad’s preparation and mindset.
“The camp is great. We have trained well, and the players are in perfect shape. Our target is to try and win our next immediate game and progress to the next round. That is the mentality we take into the game against Rwenzori Lions FC.”
Mubiru also provided an update on the squad, welcoming back captain Julius Poloto after his recovery from illness.
Additionally, Hassan Muhamud has resumed training with the team. However, Munguchi and Mujuzi remain unavailable due to illness and injury, while Gavin Kizito and Brain Jjara are away on national duty.
Other Uganda Cup games on the day see two Uganda Premier League sides take on each other in Lugazi and nine-time Uganda Cup champions SC Villa at the Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe.
2022 Cup Winners BUL will also host stubborn total Total FC (who eliminated Express to book a spot at this stage) at the Njeru FTC.
The 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, co-sponsored by Plascon Uganda, is not just a fight for silverware but also serves as a platform for young players to showcase their skills.
