Growing in tension as teams continue to push each other in different directions in the 2026 USSSA U20 Boys football national championship.
On May 15, Madina Islamic from Nsangi Katereke, in their debut campaign, reached the round of 16 after eliminating fellow Wakiso zone representative Aiden College Ndejje by 1-0, with Ronald Ofungi scoring the goal.
Next Madina Islamic will face St Mary’s Kitende in the round of 16 games, vying for quarterfinal slots on Saturday May 16 at Lira Town College.
Speaking on the clash, Madina Islamic Coach Hamza Katende remains optimistic, “We believe St Mary’s Boarding School is a giant school, we respect them but we can not fear them, our boys remain determined to go head to head with them and see what Allah will bring in the end.”
At the round of 32, Kitende overpowered Kitara SS 4-0, Denis Kisiriko Luzige netted twice while Jordan Tugume and Laurian Lwesibawa added on the other goals.
Katende further summed up the tournament so far, “We are grateful to Allah that we are still going, we are in the round of 16, and at the beginning we were many schools, the tournament remains at a good move in all aspects, the organisers, the referees are handling the matches well,” said the Former referee.

Elsewhere, Masaka SS booked a round of 16 encounter with Lubiri SS, to reach the stage both teams defeated Lakeside SS and Ngora High School 1-0 respectively.
Kyadondo SS will take on Nkoma SS, Numasa will play against Busia SS, Mbale Progressive will go against London College Nansana, Mentors SS shall check Amus College, Buddo SS contest Kawempe Muslim SS, and Greenlight Islamic shall face Bukedea Comprehensive South.
