Maroons FC are UGX200 million richer after unveiling a sponsorship partnership with Ngetta Tropical Holdings under their cooking oil brand, Virgin Gold.

Virgin Oil, will in turn grace Maroons’ jersey for the next three years. The company makes a return having had their previous sponsorship ended in 2018.

“We strongly believe in the efforts made at Uganda Prisons to stir this club,” Ngetta board chairman Paul Erongot said to the media on Wednesday.

“As Ngetta, we have over the years vigorously used sport for positive impact and social actions, notably by sponsoring Maroons, we are proud of this team,” he added.

“The growth of this team is a testament to the argument of nurturing an institution through sponsorship.”

Maroons patron Johnson Byabashaija, who is also the Commissioner for Prisons, welcomed the partnership in the institution’s efforts to push the club’s goals.

“We shall continue to build and enhance positive relations within and outside the service while at the same time adhering to the directives of the president to domicile talented sportsmen in the country.”

“And, with this sponsorship from Ngetta, we hope to reach our goals,” Byabashaija added.

Currently, the Maroons occupy 11th on the 15-team table with 27 points in 21 games and will play host to UPDF FC in their next encounter.
