Uganda Cranes midfielder Paul Mucureezi and Vipers SC have gone separate ways after a four-year period of ups and downs.

“A big thank you to Vipers SC fraternity. My President, manager, coaches, fellow footballers and fans,” said Mucureezi in a farewell statement on Tuesday.

“I thank you for the opportunity given to me to be part of the great team. Like any great team, you encouraged me, assisted me and made me better.”

“Thank you for sharing the wins and losses, the triumphs and tribulations. Working with you has been a true privilege. I am leaving you with a grateful heart.”

Mucureezi joined the Venoms in 2019 from boyhood side Mbarara City FC and went on to establish himself as a fans’ favorite.

The attacker leaves after helping the Venoms to two Uganda Premier League championships in the 2019/20 and 2021/22 campaigns.

He also clinched the 2020/21 Uganda Cup, as they thrashed BUL FC 8-1 in the final.

He netted 17 times in 37 Uganda Premier League matches, but was limited to none in the current season.

A number of sides including URA FC and Wakiso Giants FC have reportedly shown interest in securing the former KCCA FC player’s signature.
