Uganda Premier League defending champions Vipers Soccer Club signed an eighth foreign player, adding to their August recruitments.
The Venoms have landed attacking midfielder Serge Robert Mwenge from Democratic Republic of Congo to bolster their squad ahead of the second round of the season.
The 25-year old has signed a two-year employment contract at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende that will run till 2025.
He joins compatriots Alfred Mudekereza, Olivier Osomba, Gracia Mpongo Mbombo, Rodriguez Shamamba, and Darcy Mbaka Kipoyi.
The move also makes it eight foreign players at the club, as they have Burundian custodian Fabien Mutombora and Nigerian Abubakar Lawal on their books as well.
Mwenge has previously featured for DRC and African powerhouses AS Vita, and Saint Loi Lupopo.
He has become the Venoms’ third signing in the January transfer window after initially landing Martin Kizza and Karim Ndugwa.
