Bright Stars’ Loki stings KCCA FC at Kavumba

Soltilo Bright Stars‘ forward Emmanuel Loki was the hero as his side defeated Uganda Premier League leaders KCCA FC 1-0 at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds on Tuesday.

Christened ‘Lord of Mischief,’ Loki expertly guided a well weighted pass from striking partner Nelson Senkatuka in the 66th minute past Derrick Ochan to hand the hosts three valuable points.

On the evening, it took until half an hour for the game’s first real scoring opportunity as KCCA’s Allan Okello forced custodian Hassan Matovu into a brilliant save.

Five minutes later, Cleophus Fiat had Bright Stars’ best chance of the half but Ochan punched his strong snap-shot from outside the box out.

Moments after Loki’s 66th minute goal, the visitors upped the tempo, searching for a leveller but the hosts stood tall, strong and solid as they held onto their victory.

Even in defeat, KCCA stayed at the summit with 29 points as second-placed Vipers SC also lost by the same scoreline to Busoga United.

Meanwhile, Bright Stars took their tally to 20 points in the eighth position and will host Vipers when the league resumes in February 2023.
