- Nile CC 259/10 in 41.1 overs (Robert Ajuna 123, Jimson Wankona 46)
- Jinja SS 54/10 in 25 overs( Dudiharejiya Hariom 14, Michu Faizo 10)
- Nile CC won by 205 runs
In a momentous outing at Jinja SS grounds, Robert Ajuna announced himself and Nile Cricket Club with a breathtaking performance that left no doubt about their ambitions this season.
Ajuna’s dazzling century was the centrepiece of Nile CC’s emphatic 205-run demolition of Jinja SS Cricket Club in the UCA Men’s National League Division Two, earning them a maiden victory that vaulted them to second place in Group A.
From the outset, it was clear that Nile meant business. After being put into bat, they leaned heavily on the blistering form of Ajuna whose 123 runs came off just 92 balls, a fiery innings studded with 11 fours and 3 towering sixes. Each shot seemed to echo Nile’s intent to stamp their authority early in the campaign.
Even as wickets tumbled intermittently around him, Ajuna’s resolve never wavered. Jimson Wankona provided crucial support with a steady 46, helping Nile post a formidable 259 runs in a little over 41 overs.
Though Chombe Elvis worked hard for Jinja SS, picking up three wickets, he and his teammates could do little to stem the flow of runs.
Facing an imposing target, Jinja SS never quite found their footing. Nile’s bowlers, fueled by the momentum from their batting heroics, unleashed a relentless assault.
Wankona, showcasing his all-round prowess, ripped through Jinja SS’s lineup with astonishing figures of four wickets for just seven runs.
Robinson Turinawe chipped in effectively with three wickets, while Ajuna added the perfect finishing touch to his day, snaring a wicket himself.
The Jinja SS innings folded meekly for a mere 54 runs in 25 overs. Apart from a spirited 14 off 15 balls from Dudharejiya Hariom, there was little resistance, as the pressure of a daunting chase and clinical bowling proved too much to overcome.
For Nile Cricket Club, this was more than just a win that not only secured them their first victory of the season but also thrust them into contention among the Division Two heavyweights.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the group, Soroti City, under the steady leadership of Bakunzi Derrick, continued their winning ways, securing a 37-run victory over Budo Cricket Club to strengthen their position at the top of Group A.
