Mass exodus as Vipers SC release eight players

Vipers SC have got their preparations for next season early enough, but have kicked off by letting go of their fringe players.

Eight players including Disan Galiwango, Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye, Ibrahim Orit, Bashir Asiku, Musa Ssali, Olivier Osomba, Garcia Mpongo and Serge Robert Mwenge have been released.

Zaga departs after winning three-time Uganda Premier League titles, across two spells, including 2019/20, 2021/22 and 2022/23.

Orit, who joined from Mbarara City FC at the start of the 2020/21 campaign, exits a two-time league champion with as many Uganda Cup winners medals.

Galiwango departs after three seasons with the Venoms, having joined from Express FC at the start of the 2020/21 season.

He won the Uganda Premier League titles in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons and just as many Uganda Cups.

Talented defender Asiku, who like Zaga, is a make of SMASK, leaves heavily decorated with three league medals and two Uganda Cups.

Ssali, who joined the Venoms from Maroons FC in the 2020/21 season leaves with two league medals and just as many Uganda Cups.

Congolese midfielders Osomba, Mwenge and Mpongo, who joined Vipers at the start of last season, leave with a domestic double to their names.
