Formerly Buddo Cricket Club, Centurion Cricket Club’s perfect season faces its biggest test on Sunday when they take on Kifaru Cricket Club in the Cricket Uganda Men’s 50 Over League Bronze Division semifinal at Lugogo Oval.

The reward is win and secure promotion to the Silver Division next season or lose and another year in the Bronze Division. Centurion swept through the group stage unbeaten in Bronze’s Group A, emerging as one of the League’s standout sides while Kifaru CC lost only once in Group B. But the semifinals will reveal whether they are truly ready for the next level.
Kifaru, led by Captain Hardik Donga finished second behind Pak Shaheens in Group B, have earned their place among the final four with an aggressive batting approach. They have scored heavily throughout the competition and will arrive believing they can end Centurion’s unbeaten run with players like Didier Ndikwibimana, Darshan Patel, Devansh Patel and the rest.
Centurion captained by Allan Ssemakula will look to experienced players Leon Kigozi, Fred Achelam, Arnold Tembo, Martin Akayezu and Brian Masaba to guide them through the pressure of a winner takes all contest. Youngsters Ali Balidawa and Conrad Lubwama will also have key roles to play.
Conditions at Lugogo are expected to favour the batters with a sunny weather has left the outfield quick and the wicket ideal for run scoring, making a high scoring contest likely. In such conditions, the side that bats best could secure the precious promotion spot.
The other semifinal will see Pak Shaheens Cricket Club face Tornado Cricket Club at Florida Oval. Pak Shaheens have been one of the division’s most entertaining teams, built around a powerful batting line-up. Despite missing some regular players, they have strengthened their squad for the crucial encounter.
Tornado finished second behind Centurion and know they must find a way to slow Pak Shaheens’ flow of runs. That task will not be easy on the small Florida Oval, where boundaries come quickly and bowlers often struggle for control.
Sunday’s semifinals promise pressure and opportunity with promotion on the line after the third division already welcomed Nile Cricket Club and SKLPs from the Silver division.
